Who is Heloise?
World-Famous "Hintologist"

People magazine calls her "the world's best-known housekeeper" and even though she wears the title well, Heloise still says, "I'm not a fanatical housekeeper like most people may think. My philosophy is always to pick up the big chunks and keep things neat. No one is going to look inside your oven, heaven forbid! If they do, they deserve what they find!" As author of the internationally popular newspaper column, "Hints from Heloise," she’s undoubtedly the world’s most famous name in lifestyle advice. Learning from her mother, for more than 27 years, Heloise has been the go-to person for easy, inexpensive ways to make our lives simple and enjoyable.
Heloise, whose seven-days-a-week column is syndicated by King Features to more than 500 newspapers in the United States and internationally, has also written eleven books including her most recent, Get Organized with Heloise, each selling millions of copies. She also is a contributing editor and writes a monthly column for Good Housekeeping magazine ("Heloise to the Rescue"). A frequent guest on network and local talk shows (most recently The Late Show with David Letterman), she is also the featured speaker at conventions and on the lecture circuit nationwide.
Heloise grew into her role as columnist after years of watching her legendary mother who began writing the first "Hints from Heloise" for the Honolulu Advertiser in 1959. Heloise quickly discovered how to tackle problems that are common to everyday households, and, while still in her teens, worked full-time during summer vacations on the increasingly-popular column. Although she planned to teach math, she decided after graduating from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) that writing "Hints from Heloise" was her true calling.

She devotes considerable time and energy to charitable organizations, making frequent appearances for battered women's shelters, the USO and the American Heart Association. The National Mental Health Association honored Heloise with its first Mental Health Mission Award for her outstanding contribution to mental health education of the public through her column. Other awards include Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Women in Communications Headliner Award.
Heloise's newest role is her partnership with Humco, a trusted name for quality, traditional home and healthcare products. Heloise will provide new helpful hints for traditional and non-traditional uses of Humco products, including boric acid, glycerin, castor oil, clove oil and sweet oil, to name just a few. Through this partnership, she will bring these simple home remedies to a new generation.
